Even though the Central Government are to release the Unlock 4 guidelines soon, no timeline has been fixed yet by the Ministry of Education for reopening of schools and colleges as the majority of states are not in favour of it.

On Monday, August 24, the officials stated that even cinema houses would not be opened at the moment in view of the pandemic. However, the Unlock 4 guidelines might be issued by the end of this week.

As per the officials, schools and colleges will not resume operations immediately but there has been an intense discussion on whether higher educational institutions like universities, IITs and IIMs should be allowed to open. However, there has been widespread confusion amongst school students with regards to reopening schools. Moreover, many students do not have the facility of smartphones or laptops to study at home. As a consequence, children are having a lot of difficulty in studying from home.

In the rural areas this problem increases even more, because with the absence of new technology not being available in the area, for an example, smartphones with fast internet services, the students have been suffering.

Since March 16, Universities and schools across the country have been closed due to the pandemic and the consequent countrywide classroom shut down was imposed as part of the measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Moreover, a nationwide lockdown was announced on March 24, which came into effect the next day and threw economic activities out of gear in the country.
