A part of 3-storeyed Yusuf building near Crawford Market collapsed at 9:15 pm on Tuesday, September 10. The fire brigade rushed to the spot and cleared the debris and safely rescued  two people who were trapped inside the debris.

The building was located near Lohar Chawl and the adjacent Dwarkadas building was also vacated at night. A total of 17 people have been rescued safely and the nearby shops, restaurants and stalls on the footpath have been closed down. 

Notably, the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) had already issued a warning to vacate the building as it was in dilapidated condition. The area is very close to the recent Dongri collapse that took place.
