Himalaya Bridge, connecting Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) station to Times of India collapsed on Thursday evening at 7.30 pm and six people died in the accident and over 32 people were injured. After the accident, traffic congestion was created in the area and the debris was removed till late night. Meanwhile, the traffic on this route has been completely shut down and the traffic has been diverted to P D'Mello Road and Kalbadevi road.
After the Himalaya’s flyover accident in Mumbai, the traffic on the road became quite widespread. To ease the traffic jams, the traffic on the eastern road is diverted to P. D'mello Road and on the Western route, traffic from the Municipal headquarters has been diverted. Commissioner of Transport Police, Amitesh Kumar has informed that the J.J. Flyover has been started from Mohammad Ali Road.
“This route will be closed until the remaining construction of the concerned corridor starts. Meanwhile, no traffic congestion problem should be felt in the area, therefore, local traffic police officer has been deployed there," said Amitesh Kumar.
