Construction work related to Mumbai Metro Line 4 has led to major traffic congestion in Thane, particularly on the busy Ghodbunder Road and the Eastern Express Highway.
Ongoing work on a metro bridge and related infrastructure has significantly reduced the available road space due to barricades, construction equipment, and diversion of traffic lanes. As a result, long queues of vehicles were reported on both routes, causing slow movement and delays for commuters traveling between Thane and Mumbai.
The congestion was especially severe during peak hours, affecting office-goers, public transport, and goods vehicles. While authorities stated that the construction is part of essential work to complete the metro corridor and improve future connectivity, the ongoing activities have temporarily disrupted normal traffic flow and created difficulties for daily commuters using these key roads.
