The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is slated to build a treehouse in Maharashtra Maritime Board's garden near Bandra Fort at Bandstand, reports stated. Recently, the proposal was cleared by the district planning and development committee.

According to reports, Kiran Dighavkar, BMC assistant commissioner remarked that the project has been sanctioned INR 1 crore. Adding that it has been done so from the local area development fund of Aaditya Thackeray, the Worli MLA.

Apart from this, it is also reported that the BMC has taken a NOC too form the Maharashtra Maritime Board. The work is expected to cost INR 86 lakh.

It is believed that this treehouse will offer an unrestricted view of the Arabian Sea. On Tuesday, January 4, the civic authority floated an expression of interest for the treehouse project which is on similar lines to the Old Women's Shoe at Kamala Nehru Garden in Malabar Hill.

The project is claimed to be the brainchild of Thackeray and will be implemented through Mumbai's planning department. Dighavkar was quoted by narratives elaborating on how the funds for the project implementation will be from the district planning development committee, with the BMC being only an executing agency.

Made out of wood with restricted use of cement, the treehouse is expected to be a recreational facility that will draw crowds.
