The review meeting was held at the Ministry and was attended by Jogeshwari (East) MLA Anant (Bala) Nar, Tribal Development Department Secretary Vijay Waghmare, SGNP Director Anita Patil, and other senior officials.
Dr. Uike emphasised that the legal process must be followed without affecting the rights of any family living in these tribal settlements. There are a total of 43 tribal settlements in the SGNP. The High Court has imposed a restriction on the provision of new civic amenities in these settlements. However, the government has permitted repairs to existing facilities in the encroached areas.
The minister directed the concerned department to submit a proposal to the High Court seeking approval for providing essential civic amenities to the tribal residents of these settlements. Dr. Uike also mentioned that a detailed review of the issues related to tribal settlements in Aarey and SGNP will be conducted next week.
