The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Monday, October 19, 2020, started working on the pipeline repair work in Kurla's Suman Nagar area when two employees died due to electrocution. The incident was reported in the morning on Monday, and besides these two, five others were seriously injured in the accident. They were rushed to Ghatkopar's Rajawadi Hospital for further treatment.

Complaint regarding the same has been lodged at BMC's Ward L stating that the BMC water pipeline had burst in the Sumannagar, and addressing the same, staff members from the water department reached the spot to repair the pipeline.

After starting the work, the employees were hit by a sudden electric shock, and two of them - Ganesh Dattu Ugale and Amol Kale - died on the spot. Five others - Nana Pukale, Naresh Adhangale, and Rakesh Jadhav, Anil Chavan and Mahesh Jadhav - have been critically injured and are being treated at the hospital.

The police have registered only accidental cases in the case and are investigating further.
