A seven-storied building crashed on Saturday, August 26, killing two people and five people are still missing. At the time of the incident, three slabs of a partly demolished building at Chandivali collapsed. After a search operation rescued injured people, they were then moved to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar for further treatment.
Sachidanand Gawade, Deputy Commandant, NDRF, said that the debris was nearly 50 feet in height and the heavy concrete blocks had a lot of iron rods in them. Hence, it was less dangerous. Since Sunday morning, NDRG officials deployed sniffer dogs to look out for survivors.
The dilapidated building was located near Sangharsh Nagar bus stop, Chandivali. It collapsed around 5:35 pm and around ten people were feared trapped in the building.
