On Sunday, January 9, morning, two youngsters on a yacht ride were saved after they fell into the water near the Gateway of India, reports stated. A police patrol is reported to have then come to their rescue and the condition of both rescued has been said to be stable. 

According to accounts, the names of the two rescued are Vikas Salvi and Niti Damania, who were residents of Santacruz sailed on the yacht, Monalisa from the Gateway wherein it capsized. Yellow Gate police station's senior officer remarked that the two fell into the water at nearly 11.30 am. 

Sanjay Pandey, acting Director General of Police Maharashtra took to Twitter to share the video of the rescue operation undertaken by the authorities. Pandey went on to laud the personnel for saving the lives of the two.

Based on reports, the yacht's master then jumped into the water to save them. In the meantime, the south control room had sent a message to Indrayani, the police patrol boat. Once the boat reached the spot, the police officers threw a rope into the water. 

On holding onto the rope, the two were pulled to safety. The drifted yacht on the other hand was dragged by a CISF boat to the Mumbai port jetty.
