Amidst the backdrop of the walkway-cycle track from Bandra Fort to Mahim Fort which was going to cost the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) a significant amount, yet another walkway-cycle track is in the pipeline. The civic authority is looking to build a similar structure along the Mahalaxmi racecourse that will lead up to Lower Parel, reported the Times of India. It is claimed that this structure will give cyclists and pedestrians an uninterrupted view of the magnificent racecourse.

According to the report, civic officials stated that civic engineers and architects from Mumbai’s Rachna Sansad School of Design will be participating in the planning process.

Assistant Municipal Commissioner, G-South Ward, Sharad Ughade elaborated on the Mahalaxmi Racecourse cycle track which will be equipped with a cycle track as well as a footpath. A wall will be replaced with a fence so that the users can see the racecourse. He also added that with the section opposite Famous Studios being idle, it will be used for the people, stated the report. He says that the project will be completed in nearly six months in an economical manner which will beautify the stretch and will be available to all. Aaditya Thackeray, Worli MLA, based on the account, also stated that this project is part of the pedestrianisation and beautification from Dadar station to Mahalaxmi, and further elaborated on the nuances of the project.

However, even with the civic authority undertaking these development projects, opponents don’t believe it is enough.
