Amidst the city of Mumbai facing power outage on Monday morning, the citizens of the island city were inconvenienced due to the late-night downpour in several parts of Mumbai.

However, the pumping has started as the water supply is being restored in the city. Although the power supply has been restored, the water supply in all areas will be restored from noon on Tuesday, as per the municipality. The BMC has also urged the citizens to use water sparingly and co-operate with the civic body.

On October 12's morning, Mumbai witnessed a major power outage due to grid failure. Maharashtra Energy Minister Nitin Raut in view of the situation had earlier announced that a four-member inquiry committee has been set up with a mandate to examine the causes of the power failure and to find out if it was caused due to negligence. The probe will also find out why only 50 per cent of the repair of the GIS system was done. Moreover, the committee is to suggest measures that are to be adopted to avoid such incidents in the future.

Furthermore, the MahaTransco has been directed to conduct root cause analysis and a technical audit of the transmission systems in the state.
