According to a latest report revealed by the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) stated that there will be no water supply on July 20 and 21 in the areas under its jurisdiction in the city. Meanwhile, the water will be supplied with a low pressure on July 22 in Thane.

This development comes despite Mumbai, Thane and other cities across Maharashtra received heavy rainfall in July.

According to accounts, owing to the intense spell of rains over the past couple of weeks, the July average of 855 mm for Mumbai has been attained. The aggregate rainfall reportedly recorded by the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Colaba observatory stands at 1,204 mm, while that of Santacruz is at 1,427 mm. This is over the normal for both observatories.

However, if reports are to be believed, the water cut is owing to the ongoing work on the connection of the newly installed down-take pipe at Kanhaiyanagar water reservoir in Kopri with the main distribution channel.

Due to this, the residents of the Naupada-Kopri area must store water for three days including Wednesday (today), Thursday, July 21, and Friday, July 22. TMC water department official said the pipe connection work is very urgent.

The affected areas will include Koliwada, Sudarshan Colony, Sainagar, Natu Colony, Savarkar Nagar, Valmikipada Society, Kumbharwada, Gurudev Society, Krishnanagar and Swami Samarth Math premises.
