In a recent hearing by the Bombay High Court (HC) headed by Chief Justice Pradeep Nandrajog and Justice Bharati Dangre questioned why doesn't the state government consider using the 41-hectare undisputed government land at Kanjurmarg instead of cutting down 2700 trees at Aarey Colony?

The petition was filed by activist Zoru Baththena and founder of Vanshakti Stalin Dayanand. On Tuesday, September 17, the Bombay High Court had redirected the Tree Authority that no trees will be cut down till September 30. 

The Bombay High Court has now called for papers related to the Kanjurmarg site in their next hearing, which will be held today (September 19). Notably, environmentalist and activists along with citizens have protested about the cutting down of 2700 trees at Aarey Colony 3 times in this month. Celebrities like John Abraham and Shraddha Kapoor have also extended their support.
