Every year, ahead of the monsoon, officials from the respective civic bodies in Mumbai and nearby areas aim at completing the nullah cleaning work and this year, the project work has been gaining momentum for a few weeks.

In a recent inspection visit, a woman sanitary inspector, in Thane's Bhiwandi area, was seen entering a manhole to inspect the sanitation work. This action taken by the official went viral and the matter is being discussed on social media.

Arif Garden passes through Bhalamotha Nullah which carries water from Shantinagar, Azad Nagar, Chavindra, Avachit Pada, Khandu Pada and nearby areas. The locality is a part of ward committee No. 2 in Bhiwandi, and Suvidha Subhash Chavan is the health inspector of respective ward. Reports state that she is responsible for supervising the work in the locality.

She was on inspection duty recently when she decided to enter the manhole to check the cleaning work of the nullah and understand the much work done here. Sharing her thoughts, Suvidha Subhash Chavan informed that the Commissioner had recently appointed her as the Health Inspector in charge and it was her duty to ensure that the job was done honestly. The decision to enter the manhole was done out of a sense of duty.

In an interview with Navbharat times, she said that this was the first time she had entered a manhole. The decision to enter the manhole was taken to understand how the crossline works and how the workers perform this hard task and the efforts they take to ensure they do this in a smooth manner. Electricity has been provided currently which has offered some relief to workers in the manhole.
