The construction of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj memorial in the Arabian Sea will be initiated from October 24. With the construction delayed by six months, the cost of the project has also increased by ₹643 crore.
While talking to the media, Shiv Smarak Samiti President Vinayak Mete informed that Shivaji’s statue will be the biggest in the country with a height of 212 meters. The cost of the project was finalised at ₹3,500 crore but now it has increased by ₹643 crore and the memorial will be built in the area of 16.86 acres.

Public Works Department (PWD) has given the contract for the project to Larsen & Toubro (L&T). Earlier, the construction had to be initiated in March 2018. Mete informed that the memorial will be completed in 36 months.
