The commute from the Western Express Highway to Link Road will be easy in the next two years as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) clears the proposal to extend the Mrinaltai Gore flyover.

Worth ₹209 crores, this 840 metre flyover starts from Ram Mandir Road and ends on Relief Road Junction, along SV Road in Goregaon (West). The extension of the flyover will save 20 minutes and help commuters skip three traffic signals.

The construction of Mrinalatai Gore flyover’s first phase began in 2012, however, due to the design and other difficulties, the construction was completed in 2016. Officials observed concerns with the flyover which lead to traffic congestion, and so the civic body decided to expand the flyover. The Standing Committee at BMC approved the proposal on Friday, without any opposition.

Sharing more thought on the proposal, BMC official confirmed that the traffic congestion is due to the signals and the new flyover will solve the problem. Three traffic signals will be placed at Ram Mandir, SV Road and Relief Road junctions respectively. The proposed flyover will connect Western Express Highway straightaway to Link Road in Goregaon directly in the western suburbs.
