On Wednesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the names for the All-India Senior Selection Committee. The three-member Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) recommended the names of Sunil Joshi and Harvinder Singh for roles in All-India Senior Selection Committee.

According to reports, the CAC, comprising Madan Lal, RP Singh and Sulakshana Naik, has recommended Sunil Joshi, former India spinner, for the role of Chairman of the senior men's selection committee.

Joshi will be replacing MSK Prasad as the chairman of the selection committee. The other three members of the senior selection committee for Team India are Devang Gandhi, Sarandeep Singh and Jatin Paranjape. These three will continue and finish their terms by the end of 2020.

The two former players that have been named for the selection committee have played for India till 2001. Singh played three Tests and 16 ODIs from 1998 to 2001 whereas Joshi represented the country in 15 Tests and 69 ODIs between 1996 and 2001.

BCCI 's three-member CAC conducted interviews for the five shortlisted candidates in Mumbai on Wednesday. The candidates that were interviewed were:

  • Rajesh Chouhan
  • Harvinder Singh
  • Venkatesh Prasad
  • Laxman Sivaramakrishnan
  • Sunil Joshi

The five were interviewed by outgoing chief selector MSK Prasad and fellow panel member Gagan Khoda.

According to BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly, the new selection committee will only pick India's ODI squad for the upcoming series against South Africa which will be played from March 12.

"The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising Mr Madan Lal, Mr Rudra Pratap Singh and Ms Sulakshana Naik on Wednesday met at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai to select the members of the All-India Senior Selection Committee (Men)," the BCCI release said.

After a one-year-period, CAC will review the candidates after a one-year period and make necessary recommendations to the BCCI.
