Cricketer Chetan Chauhan tests positive for coronavirus

As per reports, a cricketer turned politician Chetan Chauhan has tested positive for coronavirus. Chauhan was a former member of the Indian cricket team and used to open with Sunil Gavaskar. He was a right-handed batsman and has played 40 ODIs.  He has also played Ranji Trophy matches for Maharashtra and Delhi.

Currently, he is a minister in the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh. He was tested for COVID-19 on Friday.

Chauhan has been admitted in Sanjay Gandhi PGI hospital in Lucknow and is undergoing treatment for coronavirus.

The entire country is trying to fight with the coronavirus pandemic.  Indian posted the largest single-day spike of 27,114 new infections between Friday and Saturday morning, according to the Union health ministry. During the same time frame, the death toll for the country also increased by 519 deaths. The total number of cases in India also crossed the 8-lakh mark and now stands at  820,916. 

Maharashtra continues to be the worst impacted state in the country with 238,461 Covid-19 cases. At present, there are 33,700 cases in Uttar Pradesh.

In the past couple of days, a lot of known people have informed that they have tested COVID-19 positive. These include Bollywood actors Abhishek Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan. News regarding the same was confirmed by both the actor themselves on their social media handles.

On Saturday, July 11, Abhishek Bachchan took to Twitter to share the news regarding their health. Abhishek wrote, "Earlier today both my father and I tested positive for COVID 19. Both of us having mild symptoms have been admitted to hospital. We have informed all the required authorities and our family and staff are all being tested. I request all to stay calm and not panic. Thank you."

Amitabh Bachchan is admitted in Nanavati hospital and is said to be stable.

Many celebrities took to Twitter to share their get well soon messages. It is also reported that other family members of their family have placed themselves in isolation.
