The league is played in two different formats, the regional and franchise editions. The league is the international regional edition where cricket fans can watch their favorite retired players reignite their old rivalries in matches filled with excitement and drama.

Three regional teams - the India Maharajas made up of Indian players, the Asia Lions with players from all over Asia, and the World Giants consisting of players from the rest of the world - play the tournaments every year.

On the other hand, LLC franchise edition is held in India, featuring four privately-owned teams, India Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Bhilwara Kings, and Manipal Tigers, with a new format, new players, and a fresh outlook. This previous edition took place in October 2022.
