Indian cricketer and all-rounder Hardik Pandya has responded to the show cause notice by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and has said that he is ‘sincerely regretful’ for his disparaging comments about women on the TV talk show. The Baroda all-rounder’s comments on specific topics were disrespectful towards women when he was on the chat show, Koffee With Karan.

On January 9, Pandya, along with Indian opener, KL Rahul has been issued a show cause notice by BCCI for their remarks on Koffee With Karan. The duo was given 24 hours to present their statements and while Pandya has submitted his response, Rahul is yet to react to the criticism.

"I made an appearance on the chat show where I have made certain statements without realising that these could be disrespectful and offend sensitivities of viewers for which I am sincerely regretful," stated Pandya's response.

It further added, "I would like to assure you that there was no malice or any sort of ill-intent on my part to offend anyone or portray any section of the society in a bad light."

I made these statements in the flow of the show and had not comprehended the extent to which my statements would be found offensive. Rest assured I hold the BCCI in the highest regard and will exercise complete discretion and prudence to ensure that such incidents are never repeated in future," he said.

Meanwhile, BCCI is now also having a discussion to bar the cricketers from attending and appearing on non-cricket shows in order to avoid the cricketers from indulging in any unnecessary activities.
