Indian T20I vice-captain Smriti Mandhana has been roped in by Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) franchise Hobart Hurricanes for the league’s fourth edition. On the other hand, Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur who had signed a two-year deal with Sydney Thunder prior to the 2017 edition, will be returning to the team for the third successive season.

The Mumbai cricketer will be pairing with Heather Knight, who is the captain of her English T20 league team Western Storm and also plays for Hurricanes in the Australian league. Meanwhile, the Indian batswoman had a stellar season with Storm at the Women’s Cricket Super League, earlier this year after she finished as the top run-getter with 421 runs in nine innings.

I'm really excited to have another opportunity in the WBBL this summer. I've heard from many players that the Hurricanes group is a great squad to be around and I can't wait to get to Tasmania for the matches," Mandhana exclaimed.

Prior to this, Mandhana had appeared for Brisbane Heat in the second season of WBBL. However, the stint ended with an ACL injury just prior to ICC Women’s World Cup 2017.
