After an increase in the number of cases pointing towards the unfortunate growth of corruption in T20 and T10 leagues across the globe, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to keep a track on the shorter formats of the games. Famous leagues like Indian Premier League (IPL), Caribbean Premier League (CPL) etc. have witnessed various encounters of corruption and spot-fixing and thus, the international body has decided to introduce strict regulations to monitor the leagues.

The decision about the same will be taken at ICC’s meeting starting from October 16 to October 20. The regulatory body will also be deciding about the introduction of T20 leagues in other cricketing nations after the prevalence of the shorter format of the game. Alongside, ICC is also planning to promote the T10 leagues and accordingly, scrutinise the leagues.

As the regulatory body will monitor the league, it will also look into the matter of the financial sources of the league and make the decision about issuing the permission accordingly.

Meanwhile, this will be the first time when Indra Nooyi, the former PepsiCo CEO will attend the meeting as an ICC representative. Nooyi is ICC’s first independent female director.

India will be represented by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary after CoA barred Rahul Johri from attending the meeting.
