Indian stalwart Prithvi Shaw has already marked his presence in the cricketing world after scoring runs against some of the best in the world. While the youngster has just stepped in the turf donning the Indian jersey, his talent has earned him a spot as an opener for the Indian Test team. Recently, the 19-year-old scored a half-century against Australia while playing a practice match for India prior to the Test series.

The fifty came after a disappointing opening day that was washed out by rain. The Indian batsmen were finally able to get some practice in the India-Australia tour match against Australia XI after the play resumed on Day 2. The Indian batting line-up scored 358 for 9 in 92 overs and five Indian batsmen, Prithvi Shaw, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Hanuma Vihari and Ajinkya Rahane, struck half-centuries for India.

The show began after Lokesh Rahul was the first dismissal of the day for India. Shaw scored 66 runs off 69 deliveries with a commendable strike rate of 95.65. Shaw added 80 runs with Pujara for the second to stabilise the innings for the visitors and finally fell victim to Daniel Fallins who bowled Shaw out. However, the Australian side scored 24 runs without any loss at the end of the Day 2.

Meanwhile, another failure for Rahul can mark a possibility of inclusion of Murali Vijay who didn’t bat on Day 2 of the Practice Test. India will play their first match of the Test series against Australia on December 6 at Adelaide Oval ground.
