Armaan Jaffer plays for Mumbai Ranji team against Gujarat; Goes for 0 in the first innings

U-23 batsman Armaan Jaffer finally received his chance to don the Mumbai jersey in the Ranji Trophy team for their game against Gujarat. However, the 20-year-old was dismissed for a duck in the first innings of the match. The young batsman had recently scored a triple century for Mumbai U-23 against Saurashtra in the ongoing Col CK Nayudu Trophy which earned him the spot in the Mumbai Ranji squad.

The 20-year-old is the nephew of former India player and domestic stalwart Wasim Jaffer and Armaan’s 367-ball 300 earned him a lot of praise.

Meanwhile, the Mumbai team will be led by fast bowler Dhawal Kulkarni with a comprisal of regulars such as Akhil Herwadkar, Siddhesh Lad, Jay Bista and wicket-keeper batsman Aditya Tare. Also, medium-pace bowlers Akash Parkar, Tushar Deshpande, spinner Karsh Kothari, and all-rounder Shivam Dubey have also been included in the playing XI. The announcement was made by the city cricket board on their website on Monday.

The team is yet to win a match for the season as both matches Mumbai has played, ended in a draw. Therefore, the team will aim for an outright win when they take the field. On the other hand, MCA officials stated that Shreyas Iyer will be unavailable for the match.
