On November 1, Thursday, just moments before the India-West fifth ODI match at Trivandrum, Indian batsman Rahul Dravid was officially included in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Hall of Fame. One of the most influential Test batsmen India has ever produced and a true gentleman in every sense, Rahul Dravid was the backbone to the Indian cricket team throughout his entire career.

Dravid, who has nicknamed ‘The Wall’ for his endurance in Test matches, got a ceremonial video from BCCI and alongside, he received a cap from former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar.

In July, the International Cricket Council had offered Dravid, a place in the Hall of Fame along with former Australian captain Ricky Ponting, and former England women’s wicketkeeper, Claire Taylor.

Currently, the Indian batsman has resorted to shaping and nurturing young talents and is the coach of the India U-19 team along with the India-A team.

Dravid is now the fifth Indian to have been bestowed with the honour of a place in the Hall of Fame. Besides Dravid, Bishan Singh Bedi, Sunil Gavaskar, and Kapil Dev were included by ICC in 2009. However, in 2015, the former Indian spinner Anil Kumble was also bestowed with a place in the Hall of Fame.
