With this win over Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians have qualified for the IPL 2019 Qualifiers. Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah were the star performers of the night
Latecomers Mumbai Indians have reserved their spot in the Indian
Premier League (IPL) playoffs along with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and
Delhi Capitals (DC). The qualification comes after the Indians won the
match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a close match which concluded
with a Super Over.
Jasprit Bumrah was the star turn for Mumbai, as he gave only eight
runs in the Super Over which was easily chased by Hardik Pandya and
Kieron Pollard who managed to seal the deal with three balls to spare.
Manish Pandey ended up on the losing side despite a valiant innings
and a six over cow corner on the last ball to force a super over. 17
were needed off the final over and the match looked to have gone in
Mumbai’s favour but Pandey and Mohammad Nabi batted well and scored 16
runs to ensure a super over in the end.
Earlier in the match, Quinton de Kock ensured that the Indians
reached the 162-run mark as he scored a half-century and remained
unbeaten till the end. Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged Player of
the Match for his scintillating bowling against Hyderabad.
