On Thursday, Mumbai Indians managed to beat Kings XI Punjab with a margin of 48 runs and score another victory in the ongoing IPL. In the same match, the caption of Mumbai Indians to managed to add yet another feather in his impeccable track record. 

The captain managed to amass 5,000 runs in his IPL career. Sharma is the third batsman in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) history to manage this feat. He currently has scored 5,068 runs in 192 IPL matches. This innings also includes a century and 38 half-centuries.

The other players that have managed to cross this feat include Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli. Raina, who is not playing in this season, has scored 5,368 runs in 193 IPL matches. He has scored 4,527 runs for Chennai Super Kings in 164 games and 841 runs in 29 games for Gujarat Lions. While Kohli has scored 5,430 runs in just 180 matches.

Mumbai Indians after having lost their last match to Royal Challengers Banglore in the Super Over were looking at a victory. However, it was not the start their were expecting as at the end of four over, the Paltans were only 22 for the loss of two wickets. 

Rohit Sharma played a captain's knock in the match on Thursday and his 70 runs from 45 balls helped Mumbai Indians in posting a total of 191 at the end of the 20 overs.

Batting first, Mumbai posted a monstrous total of 191/4, in which Rohit contributed with 70 off 45 deliveries. In reply, Kings XI could muster 143/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

With this win, Mumbai Indians, are leading the points table. In their next match, the Men in Blue will be taking over SunRisers Hyderabad on Sunday, October 4 in Sharjah.
