Mumbai Indians (MI) made a brilliant fightback towards the ending stages of the game and has managed to win its second match of this season today, May 6. Paltan were playing against Gujarat Titans (GT) at Brabourne stadium in its home ground.
Meanwhile, MI are bottom of the standings with two points from nine fixtures, including a win and eight defeats. In their previous fixture, they registered their first win of the season, defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by five wickets in Match 44. M Ashwin has taken two wickets for MI and Kieron Pollard has bagged a dismissal.
Gujarat were the firm favorite to win it as 177 looked like a par score but credit to the Mumbai bowlers. It seemed like Skipper Pandya's wicket was the turning point for them. Moreover, Rahul Tewatia's helped Mumbai clinch their second win.
Gujarat have chased tougher scores before this but all the applause goes to Daniel Sams here especially in the last over.
“We'll take 9 runs in the last over on any given day, but the two run-outs didn't help us. In T20 cricket you can't keep losing back-to-back wickets, it pushes you back. It's one of the game where we ended on the losing side,” said Pandya.
