New Zealand fast bowler, Mitchell McClenaghan has been picked up as a replacement for Australian pacer Jason Behrendorff in the Mumbai Indians’ squad for the 11th edition of Indian Premier League.

Mumbai Indians had bought Behrendorff for ₹1.5 crore in the mega auctions that took place in Bengaluru on January 27 and 28. However, Behrendorff is suffering from a back injury and due to which he has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League.

McClenaghan went unsold in the mega auctions this year but fate has led him back to the squad where he achieved a lot of success. McClenaghan started off with Mumbai Indians in 2015 and opened the bowling attack for MI. He was a key addition to the squad which won the IPL title in 2015 and 2017. His fearless bowling got him a lot of wickets and fame as well, making him an extremely lethal bowler.

The Kiwi pacer will be looking to impress the New Zealand selectors as he has not been a part of the national squad since March 2016.

He has played 40 matches for Mumbai Indians, picking up 54 wickets with a generous economy of 8.61.
