The Cricket Club of India (CCI) at Churchgate recently installed a 820 KWP rooftop solar plant at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium. The plant was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday.
The stadium consists of 2,280 solar panels of 360wp each and the panels have been installed on the roof of the North and West stands of the stadium. Premal Udani, CCI president, stated that the stadium’s new roof per annum capacity is 11.5 lakh units of electricity and added that they will save around ₹1.25 crore every year.

Talking about the inspiration to install the solar panels, the CCI president named the Chinnaswamy Stadium as an inspiration for the Mumbai stadium. Udani further added that the Bangalore stadium had installed the power plant last year and so they thought if Chinnaswamy could do it, so could they.
Tata Power executed the project and the Excelsior Engineering Solutions acted as the project consultant whereas the solar panels were imported from China.
