Following the footsteps of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the Mumbai Cricket Association has also raised the bar for the fitness of its players. For the upcoming season, Mumbai’s senior team cricketers (U-23 and Ranji Trophy) will have to pass the YoYo test in order to be eligible for selection for Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Mumbai’s Ajit Agarkar-led senior selection committee made the decision that the YoYo test will be necessary for the player’s selection. The probable list will be ready in a few days and they will train at an indoor academy at the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) ground.

So far, 27 players have been shortlisted and the list does not consist of senior player, Abhishek Nayar. The training modules will be set with the purpose to help the players achieve 16:1 benchmark, which is essential to clear the YoYo test. The test aims to help the players to maintain the superior level of fitness which will help them in the long run if they get their national call.
Amidst all this, MCA is also planning to appoint a new physio and trainer for the senior team after the former physio, Dr. Ashutosh Nimse and trainer, Pratik Kadam quit their post.
