On Monday, a senior official from Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) said that the due salaries of its staff and pending payments of players would be soon paid after the association receives appropriate orders from the Supreme Court. The official further added that a member of the association had approached the court and since then, they have been awaiting orders.

Meanwhile, the employees and the players haven’t received their September salary yet as the MCA is lacking authority to operate MCA bank accounts. Despite not receiving the payments for their services, the official claimed that none of the staff members have complained about the delay.

In the meantime, a few members of the clubs affiliated with MCA have come forward to help the staff.

Earlier, Bombay High Court had appointed a two-member CoA to look after the functioning of MCA but its term ended on September 15. Therefore, the CoA handed over the responsibility to CEO CS Naik. However, Naik did not have the authority to sign the cheques on behalf of MCA. Due to which, all the payments so far have been halted, including the staff salaries and the players’ daily allowances.

Due to the crisis, MCA is yet to pay the players ₹35,000 per match who were in the Vijay Hazare Trophy-winning squad.
