On Thursday, September 17, Mumbai Indians launched a set of virtual fan engagement innovations which promise a never-before experience MI Paltan loyalists and fans, who are eagerly waiting for the upcoming season of Indian Premier League (IPL) to begin.

The theme campaign for this season was launched this week, and the team has now released an array of digital initiatives who have been visiting the home ground Wankhede Stadium to cheer during the matches. The offering has been named 'MI Live' and will welcome MI fans into the Mumbai Indians’ live studio show from their home, to be a part of a pre, mid and post-match show. It is an interactive Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered WhatsApp bot focused on sharing information related to the team, based on fans' demand.

This concept will be used for all the matches and has been produced by Mumbai Indians. It will also live-stream on teams social media channels and Jio TV. Besides this, another offering named ‘Paltan Play’ has been launched in association with Samsung and will be a second screen experience game, whereby fans can participate and play with each other on the same days as Mumbai Indians matches. One can also offer an analysis of an ongoing match and predict the score, wickets and more

The third initiative is called ‘Virtual Wankhede’ which is released in association with Myntra. This innovation has been produced by Mumbai Indians, whereby fans can cheer for their team virtually along with other supporters.

Sharing more information regarding the same, Mumbai Indians spokesperson said, “These initiatives aim to connect our fans virtually, bring them even closer to each other, win exciting prizes and bragging rights while enjoying our match day programs. We believe these initiatives would be path-breaking in the current context of IPL being played without fans in the stadiums and are sure our Paltan would feel proud of being part of our journey.”

The first match of IPL 2020 will be held between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings in Abu Dhabi on Saturday, September 19, 2020.
