Mumbai managed a comfortable win against Kolkata Knight Riders on October 16. Kolkata Knight Riders after winning the toss decided to bat first. However, the top order was unable to do sustain and it was left to Pat Cummins and Eoin Morgan to put up a decent total.
Earlier in the day, Dinesh Kartik handed over the captainship of the team to Eoin Morgan. Coming back to the match in Abu Dhabi, the entire top order of KKR was sent back to Pavillion in the first 11 overs with just 61 runs on board. At that point, it seemed that KKR will be dragging the score to a little over a century but the partnership between Cummins and Morgan helped the team to put up a decent 148/5.
Rahul Chahar was the most effective bowler from Mumbai Indians as we managed to pick two wickets and gave only 18 runs. Trent Boult (1/32), Jasprit Bumrah (1/22) and Nathan Coulter-Nile (1/51) all took a wicket each.
In reply, Mumbai Indians were off to a comfortable start. Captain Rohit Sharma (35) and his opening partner Quinton de Kock (78 not out) put up an opening partnership of 94 runs within the first 11 overs. In the end, Mumbai Indians managed an easy win against KKR at Abu Dhabi.
With this win, Mumbai Indians has reclaimed the top spot on the IPL 2020 points table. It was MI's sixth win from eight games, and they now have a total of 12 points. Delhi Capitals also have the points but Mumbai is ahead on the net run rate (+1.353) while Delhi Capitals are second with +0.990.
