In India A's first unofficial one-day match against New Zealand, Mumbai batsman Prithvi Shaw along with Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj ensured a five-wicket win for their side. The match was held at Lincoln on Wednesday, January 22.

India A captain Shubman Gill had elected to field after he won the toss. The decision worked for India as they disrupted the Kiwi batting lineup with a fiery bowling attack.

Along with Siraj, Khaleel Ahmed (2-46), Axar Patel (2-31), Vijay Shankar (1-24) and Rahul Chahar (1-43) also bagged wickets for India at regular intervals. Due to which, New Zealand A middle-order failed to build any partnerships and faced a collapse as they lost wickets on a consistent basis throughout the innings.

Chasing 231, India A registered a comfortable win despite losing five of their wickets as all the batsmen managed to score some runs before being dismissed.

Gill (30), Sanju Samson (39), Suryakumar Yadav (35) and Mayank Agarwal (29) all made useful contributions. In the end, Vijay Shankar (20) and Krunal Pandya (15) ensured the chase was finished without any further loss of wickets.

India A will now take on New Zealand A in the second unofficial one-day match of the three-match series, which takes place on Friday, January 24.
