India took on Sri Lanka in the second ODI at Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali on Wednesday where Rohit Sharma stole the show with his stunning knock. The record-breaking innings from Rohit Sharma saw him score 208 in 153 balls with a strike rate of 135.95 (13 fours and 12 sixes). Shikhar Dhawan and Mumbaikar Shreyas Iyer played supporting roles with the duo scoring half-centuries.

This knock makes Rohit the first ever player to score three double-hundreds in the ODI format.

Sharma smashed 264 against Sri Lanka at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, India in 2014 and today, his 208 has just spread a wave of excitement.

New Zealand batsman Martin Guptill holds the record of the second highest individual score in ODI. He smashed an unbeaten 237 against West Indies at Westpac Stadium, Wellington, New Zealand in 2015.

The other two Indians to have scored double-hundreds are Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar.

India scored 392-4 in 50 overs.
