India is set to play its first One Day International (ODI), after a nine-month-long hiatus due to COVID-19. The match series begins from November 27. Days ahead of the India-Australia series at Sydney Cricket Ground, a Twitter user uploaded an old footage of Rohit Sharma and Dale Steyn’s engaged in a heated argument.

The Indian team toured South Africa for a set of Test and ODI matches, months after 2013 Champions Trophy. During the Durban Test, South African pace veteran Dale Steyn, who had earlier dismissed Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara in the same innings, got into a verbal duel with then inexperienced Test campaigner Rohit Sharma.

In the video, which went viral recently, South African bowler Steyn was seen provoking the Indian batsman repeatedly. It began when the legendary pacer said, “You just won’t score the runs.”

Sharma, who was then batting at nine, responded back calmly by saying, “We’ll see how you do when you come to India.” Dale getting instigated by this, further commented on the right-handed batsman low performance, “Rohit, you’ve played a handful of Test matches and you’ve done nothing in your career.”

Dale Steyn reminded Sharma, “We are in Durban” now. The Indian cricketer scored a hard-fought 25 as India went on to lose the match (and series) by 10 wickets.

The on-air commentator Pommie Mbangwa was giving a voice-over of the happenings on-field to the audience.

Surprisingly, in 2013, Sharma created history by becoming just the third Indian to score an ODI double hundred. The batsman had played against Australia at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

Moreover, there has been a lot being said about Rohit Sharma not being a part of the Team India limited-overs squad which is already in Australia for the limited-overs series. As per reports, Ishant and Rohit Sharma may miss the entirety of the upcoming 4-match Test Series against Australia which begins on December 17 along with a Day-Night test match in Adelaide.
