Mumbai-born, Indian batsman, Rohit Sharma was named as the International Cricket Council's ODI Player of the Year 2019. While Sharma was adjudged the 2019 ODI Cricketer of the Year, Kohli was awarded the 2019 Spirit of Cricket award for his heartwarming gesture asking fans not to boo Steve Smith during the World Cup 2019.

However, the most prestigious ICC award went to England all-rounder Ben Stokes as he was awarded the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy after being adjudged as the World Player of the Year. In the meantime, Australian pacer Pat Cummins won the 2019 Test Cricketer of the Year award for his 59 Test wickets.
Rohit Sharma had showed a fiery form throughout 2019. Initially, he owned the World Cup 2019 by becoming the first batsman to hit five hundreds in a single edition of the World Cup and later, finished the tournament as the highest run-scorer. He ended the year with seven ODI centuries.
Another Indian to have been bestowed with an ICC award was opener Mayank Agarwal, who also had a remarkable maiden year in Test cricket and was awarded with the opening role in ICC's Test team of the year.
Agarwal is the only Indian besides Kohli in the select team which is dominated by five Australians (Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon). However, the ODI team of the year was dominated by Indians with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav finding a place each.
