In his reply to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Ombudsman, former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar stated that he does not receive any monetary benefit from Mumbai Indians for his role as a mentor
Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar has denied the conflict of interest allegation of being involved with Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians despite being a Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) member.
In response to the notice issued by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Ombudsman, the former cricketer stated that he does not receive any monetary benefit from Mumbai Indians for his role as a mentor. He also added that BCCI was completely aware of Tendulkar’s role with the IPL outfit prior to his appointment as a CAC member in 2015.
"The Noticee’s (Tendulkar’s) role and association with the Franchise is at best that of a mentor, on account of the Noticee being declared an integral part of and source of inspiration for the Franchise team since its inception. His role is limited to providing guidance to the Franchise team by sharing his insights, learnings and working closely with the younger members in the team to help them realise their true potential. The Noticee is also involved in supporting and promoting the education of children through sport, as a part of the Franchise’s charitable initiative - Education and Sports for All,”Tendulkar wrote in his reply submitted to the Ombudsman on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Tendulkar has signed off the three-page reply with a request “for a personal hearing, along with his legal representatives” should Jain wish to continue inquiring into the matter.

Earlier, Justice Jain had asked both Tendulkar and Laxman to file written responses to the accusations by April 28 and has also asked BCCI to file their response for the same. The complaint was filed by Sanjeev Gupta, a member of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA).
