The partnership between Bravish Shetty and Shivam Dubey led the Shivaji Park Lions one step closer to the finale and eliminated Namo Bandra Blasters out of the league. The Shivaji Park Lions will now clash against Sobo Supersonics in the Second Qualifier at Wankhede Stadium.
Namo Bandra Blasters won the toss and skipper, Shreyas Iyer chose to bat first. The Blasters scored 170 to which the Lions chased the target down in just 17.4 overs and won the match by four wickets, keeping the hopes alive for the finals.
Blasters’ opener, Eknath Kerkar got out cheaply scoring just two runs but skipper Shreyas Iyer and Aman Khan steadied the innings for the Blasters. The partnership between Iyer and Khan for the second wicket of 54 helped the Blasters to reach the total of 169. The captain, Iyer scored a quick 91 off 58 balls. Shams Mulani took two wickets for Shivaji Park Lions.
After Paul Valthaty and Hardik Tamore gave a firm start to the Lions’ innings, the captain Bravish Shetty took the responsibility of chasing the target down. But later Shivam Dubey came and both of them scored a partnership of 81 runs and won the hearts of all the spectators, leading to the Lions’ victory. Shivam Dubey hit 54 runs with a four and six maximums. Bravish Shetty remained 57 not out, ensuring the victory for the Lions.
