T20 Mumbai League Auction: Rahane and Suryakumar Yadav sold at ₹7 lakh each

T20 Mumbai League Auction took place over the weekend which resulted into the formation of six power-packed teams. Each team was permitted to pick one icon player and five players who had featured in First Class cricket from the offered pool of cricketers.


The iconic players

Mumbai North fetched Ajinkya Rahane and Mumbai North East bought Suryakumar Yadav, both for ₹7 lakh which is the highest bid of the tournament.

Rohit Sharma went to Mumbai North West for ₹6 lakh. However, Sharma wouldn’t be able to participate in the tournament since he’ll be leading the national side at the tri-series in Sri Lanka.

Mumbai North Central’s Shreyas Iyer and Mumbai South’s Abhishek Nayar were both sold for ₹5 lakh and ₹4 lakh respectively. Siddhesh Lad also fetched a hefty amount of ₹4 lakh from Mumbai South Central.


The mentors that would guide the players throughout the league


Mumbai North Central has chosen former Indian stumper, Sameer Dighe as their mentor. Former Indian batsman Vinod Kambli will mentor the Mumbai South Central team, while former Indian opener Lalchand Rajput will be playing that part for Mumbai North East.

Ex-chief selector and former coach of Kenya who guided them to the semi-finals of 2003 World Cup, Sandeep Patil, would aim to do the same as the mentor of Mumbai North. Balwinder Singh Sandhu, who played a significant role in the 1983 World Cup, would coach the team.

Amol Muzumdar would be the mentor to Mumbai North West. The T20 league is being organised by Probability Sports India Pvt Ltd under the guidance of Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).

The league would start from March 11 and would last till March 21. All the matches would take place at Wankhede stadium. The tournament has chosen Sachin Tendulkar as their brand ambassador.
