Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli was named Wisden’s Leading Cricketer in the World for 2016 on Wednesday which is just another crowning achievement amongst many for him.

Moreover, Kohli has accumulated a good 1215 Test runs at a brilliant average of 75.93 last year. He garnered 739 runs at an average of 92.37 in ten ODI appearances, whereas he scored a stupendous 641 T20 International runs at an average of 106.83.

So far, only six batsmen have been able to fetch as many runs in a year more than Kohli, but none of them have been able to near the average as that of him.

"Virat Kohli, who features on the cover of the 2017 edition of the Wisden Cricketers' Almanack, is also the Leading Cricketer in the World for 2016, an accolade put in place in 2003 when Ricky Ponting became the first honoree," Wisden declared.

It has been the second time that Kohli has been announced to be the Wisden India Almanack's Cricketer of the Year for its 2017 edition.

Further, two Pakistani cricketers, Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan have been named in the list of the five Cricketers of the Year for the first time since 1997.
