A 23-year-old sports teacher, who worked at a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)-run school in Vikhroli was arrested on Tuesday, August 22, for molesting four minor girls. However, the accused teacher is scheduled to appear in court today, August 23.
The accused has been identified as Saurabh Uchate, who was employed at the school for over a month and a half.
According to reports, he started misbehaving with girls since the past week. During this time, he molested at least four girls, all of whom are between six and seven years old.
The situation came to light when a seven-year-old girl shared about the misconduct with her parents on Monday, August 21. Her parents visited the school with police the next day to confront the accused teacher. There, they beat up the teacher and handed him over to the police.
The Vikhroli police station registered a case against the teacher. They filed charges for rape, unnatural offences, and offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Earlier, he was working at a school in Thane. It is reported that there he molested a girl from class 2 five times. Currently, an investigation is underway.
