Be it Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) or Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC), no corporation takes effective measures against potholes which ultimately becomes a threat to people. Potholes are now claiming lives in Kalyan only because the KDMC is least bothered about the residents’ safety.

On Wednesday, a person named 'Anna' was walking on the Haji Malang Road, Kalyan, when he tripped over a pothole and fell on the road. Before he could do anything, he was crushed by a vehicle and he died on the spot. The police rushed to the spot and have sent the dead body to Rukminibai Hospital, Kalyan.

In the last month and half, three people have lost their lives in Kalyan owing to the potholes. Previously, on June 2, 2018, an 8-year-old boy lost his life and recently, on July 7, 2018, a 45-year-old woman lost her life when her husband lost control of his motorcycle over a pothole and she was crushed under a truck.

According to the residents, they had complained about the same to the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) officials who did not budge. They have threatened to stage a protest against the officials if the roads are not repaired on an immediate basis.
