Six minor girls have gone missing from different parts of Navi Mumbai in the past several days. The disappearances were reported from the Turbhe, NRI-Seawoods, Rabale, APMC and Koparkhairane areas. Police units have started separate kidnapping cases in each matter, as required under current rules.

The two latest cases were reported on Friday, November 28. In Turbhe, a 14-year-old girl stepped out of her home and did not come back. Police teams checked CCTV footage on nearby roads, but her trail ended soon after she walked out.

On the same day, a 16-year-old girl living alone in the NRI-Seawoods neighbourhood also went missing. Her phone has been switched off since the moment she disappeared, making digital tracking difficult. Police have been checking her recent contacts and conducting door-to-door enquiries.

Earlier, four other girls had gone missing from the Rabale, APMC and Koparkhairane police station limits. One of them was a 17-year-old girl from Koparkhairane sector 18. Another was a 15-year-old girl from Turbhe Naka who did not return home on November 17.

An FIR in this case was filed on November 27, about ten days after the incident was reported at home. Families of all the girls have tried to trace them but have not found any leads.

Residents have raised alarm because many CCTV cameras are installed across shops, housing societies and road junctions. But the footage has not helped. Police officials said they are following Supreme Court directives that require quick registration of complaints and immediate investigation in cases involving minors.

The guidelines state that every missing child should be treated as a victim of kidnapping or human trafficking until proven otherwise. Search teams have been asked to increase checks at markets, railway stations, bus stands and other transit points. Officers are using both technical support and human intelligence to track each case.
