On Sunday, April 3, seven policemen in Kandivali have been transferred to the Local Arms (LA) department for allegedly harassing a passport applicant. Police officials said a departmental inquiry was also underway.

The policemen shunted by the top cop Sanjay Pandey included a senior police inspector, police inspector and a police sub-inspector posted at Samta Nagar police station in the northern suburbs of Mumbai.

His actions after a senior citizen tweeted that she was harassed by officials of Samta Nagar police station in a passport matter. The senior citizen had applied for a passport and Samta Nagar police had sent an 'all clear' report to special branch (SB).

As per reports, Anandrao Hakke, senior inspector of Samta Nagar police station, police inspector Ravindra Padwal, sub-inspector Bhagat Vavhare and four constables - Nilesh Rajapure, Anjali Galli, Ashok Gawde and Prashant Thakre - have been told to report to Local Arms Division, Naigaum, immediately. Hakke has to hand over charge to inspector Ganesh Pawar (administration).

The victim has been identified as Natesha Polapally, who had applied for a passport two months ago. Officials stated that after the department found a pending case against the applicant, the officials did not clear the documents. Later, Polapally staged a protest at the police station on Tuesday, March 29, which was captured on video by one of the applicant’s relatives and posted on social media.
