Due to the political instability in Bangladesh and attacks on Hindus there, the political environment in India has also become sensitive. During this period, a large number of Bangladeshi citizens are infiltrating India and Mumbai Police is also conducting a special campaign against Bangladeshi citizens. Under that, the police have succeeded in arresting 81 Bangladeshi nationals in the first 10 days of the year. Over 900 Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested from Mumbai in the last three years.
The Mumbai Police is conducting a special campaign against Bangladeshi citizens living illegally in the country, under which 304 Bangladeshi citizens were arrested from Mumbai alone last year. Before that, 376 Bangladeshi citizens were arrested from Mumbai in 2023. During these operations, a large number of Bangladeshi nationals have been found to have forged Indian Aadhaar cards and passports through forged documents. In the last three years, the Mumbai Police arrested around 903 Bangladeshi nationals. But the court process allowed only 222 Bangladeshi infiltrators to be repatriated. In the first 10 days of this year, Mumbai Police has arrested 81 Bangladeshi nationals. 52 cases have been registered in this matter. Among the arrested Bangladeshi nationals are 62 men and 19 women.
The process of repatriating Bangladeshi nationals after arrest takes years. During that time the infiltrating Bangladeshi nationals benefited from various government schemes. Illegal transactions have also been seen from their bank accounts. Apart from this many Bangladeshi after settling in India, they do illegal work of settling other Bangladeshi infiltrators in India. Therefore, ATS has started taking action against the entire chain of providing documents and help to the intruders. Under that, notices have been started to be sent to banks to close bank accounts of suspected Bangladeshi citizens.
Apart from this, correspondence is also conducted with the concerned departments regarding cancellation of Indian ration card, driver's license. Driving licenses of such suspects are also being canceled by contacting the transport department. Therefore, work has been undertaken to limit the stay of Bangladeshi infiltrators in India. The official said that the Bangladeshi infiltrators are being harassed from all sides.
