The number of rising coronavirus deaths among the police personnel in Maharashtra has become a matter of major concern. According to the data issued by the public health department, 222 police personnel have died due to the coronavirus till now.
In the last 24 hours, five Maharashtra police personnel died due to the coronavirus. As per the official data, a total of 21,311 police personnel have been tested positive for COVID-19 till now and 222 have died. Earlier, 54 policemen in Maharashtra died due to the coronavirus in August, followed by 43 in July, 33 inJune, 23 in May and three in April.
With only nine days left for September end, nearly 66 police personnel have died due to COVID-19. This is the highest number of coronavirus deaths in the police force. On average, three police personnel are drying every day due to COVID-19 in Maharashtra.
156 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported among police personnel in Maharashtra on Monday, taking the total number of cases to 21,311. Of these, nearly 17,434 COVID-19 patients have recovered until now. Currently, there are 3,655 active COVID-19 patients with coronary heart disease undergoing treatment.
The coronavirus cases in Maharashtra have been increased on a daily basis and the police personnel have been working tirelessly amid the coronavirus pandemic. This has led to an increase in the coronavirus cases among police personnel in the state.
The deaths of police personnel due to the coronavirus have increased in rural areas of Maharashtra. The rising number of fatalities in rural parts has become a matter of major concern. Beed, Kolhapur, Chandrapur and Buldhana districts have reported more deaths of police personnel due to the coronavirus in August.
As of September 21, the coronavirus cases in Maharashtra have risen to 12,24,380 and the death toll has touched 33,015. The active cases in the state remain 2,74,623 while almost 9,16,348 people have recovered from COVID-19. On Monday, Maharashtra reported 15,738 coronavirus cases and 344 fatalities in 24 hours.
