All the passengers were disembarked from the aircraft and then the entire aircraft along with passenger bags were searched by the bomb squad along with the dog team. However, no objectionable items were found in the plane. So it came to light that there was a rumour of keeping a bomb. Then the flight left for Bangalore at half past midnight. After this incident, Nilesh Ghongde filed a complaint at the airport police station about the person who called that there was a bomb. Accordingly, the airport police registered a case under IPC Sections 505 (1), (b), 506 (2), 507 IPC. When the police investigated, it was found that the mobile number belonged to Vilas Bakde, a resident of Bangalore. When he was detained and interrogated, he said that he had made a telephone call.

In investigation, his wife had come to Mumbai for work. After finishing work, she left for Bangalore again. But he said he did it to stop the flight as she was running late to reach the airport.
