Today, the Jodhpur court has convicted actor Salman Khan in the 1998 Blackbuck poaching case. His co-accused actors Saif Ali Khan, Tabu, Sonali Bendre and Neelam are acquitted in the case. Salman has been held under Section 9 and 51 of Wildlife Protection Act.

As per the latest verdict, the quantum of punishment arguments is over. Salman Khan has been sentenced to five years in prison and fined ₹10,000.

Eyewitness against Salman
Eyewitness Bishnoi gave his statement against Salman. The witness had heard the sound of the bullet. Also, there were two more people who also trailed Salman Khan at the spot.

Gypsy Car
The major proof of the 1998 incident, Salman Khan ran away in the gypsy car from the spot where the dead Blackbuck was found. Public prosecutor Bhavani Singh Bhati says that all the actors were in the Gypsy car that night, Salman Khan was driving the vehicle.

Forensic evidence
The most important proof, in this case, was the forensic evidence. In the second post-mortem of the Blackbuck, a bullet was found.

Blackbuck Poaching offense
Blackbuck is considered as an endangered animal and hence it is under wildlife protection. Dushyant Singh was with Salman at the time of the Blackbuck poaching, while Dinesh Gaavre was Salman’s driver in Jodhpur. However, as per media reports both are absconding.

This third case of hunting
The prosecutor lawyer mentioned that this was the third case of the actor, after which Salman Khan was caught.
